We
always hoped for having things done easier and faster. Well, thanks for the
rapid innovation in technology and Internet platform support it made it
possible to make most of our offline activities in online as well. The change
we went through is so fast, that we feel like we forgot how it is in the past
where we are forced to get information in libraries by going over a number of
books. It also required us to pay a lot of money in long distance call whenever
we want to talk to our loved ones on another country. Now, even shopping is a
usual activity done in online. So it can't be ignored that online shopping is
now drastically on the rise in the country. A lot of us never envision online
shopping as an accepted option dating a couple of years back. Frauds and scams
happen most of the time both in online and offline in the Philippines. It made
online transaction unsafe to many of the local online users. Top websites in the
country were local online classified ads in the buy and sell industry.
Local
online classified websites pave way to the Ecommerce's arrival in the
Philippines. They started the marketplace community in the country. Back when
local online classifieds didn't exist yet, local online users were unable to
buy what they want to online. Mainly it was used for price comparison for items
they are planning to buy this usage allowed Internet users to find online more
diverse in use. It became a marketplace for local online users for buying and
selling. It's very different from Ecommerce since local online users deal with
third party resellers. Customers usually pay offline when dealing with third
party resellers. Group buying websites helped influence the thinking of local
online users. It paved way for the Ecommerce industry in the country.
At
the time that Ecommerce websites arrived in the country, local online users
were already prepared. People consider online shopping since the risk is way
lower than the reward. The local online users found amazing deals on group buy
websites. Their offered deal was at rock bottom price that it made local online
users not to miss out on their deals. Lazada Philippines was eventually
launched in the country last year. They are an online shopping mall venture
launched in South East Asia. It is backed by the Samwer brothers and is under
the Rocket Internet umbrella. The Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall has very
friendly payment methods that helped the Ecommerce industry to online
prominence.
These
allow customers to be in control since they get to choose from a lot of payment
methods. Conventionally, only via credit card or Paypal payment is allowed by
conventional online malls. These conventional online payments restrict customers
to avail what they want since most of us don't have our own credit card or
PayPal account. They first introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. to their
customers. This single handedly allowed
them to tap the untapped market in the past. The majority markets are these
customers who are unable to pay online the conventional way. This allowed the
Ecommerce industry to reach new heights now that these markets are tapped for
online.
