The online shopping industry in
the Philippines was struggling in the past couple of years. Most of the local
online users are just not fond of shopping online especially when it comes to
transactions online. They just don’t feel comfortable doing it with the risks
involved in security. Good thing that this culture in Ecommerce has slowly
changed the last couple of years. Lazada is one of the reasons why the online
shopping competition got tighter and Ecommerce started to be a popular option
in the Philippines. Actually, Ecommerce was a struggling in the industry prior
to their arrival in the country. Shopping online was actually a disregarded
option for most local online users then. As for the majority of the local
online users, whenever they want to buy second hand items they usually go to
local online classified ads. Typically, a customer would usually go to
traditional malls if they want buy anything brand new.
Actually, it is expected from us
since we grew up shopping on traditional offline malls by our parents. We
actually need to realize that online shopping can reserve our time and money.
So how can these help us in our shopping needs? As long as local consumers go
with online, they can do it wherever they please. Expenses can go down since
local consumers won't need to spend travel expense on going to traditional
offline malls. This was the greatest challenge of Lazada when they launched
here in the Philippines. They were also facing an issue on how they can also
tap the untapped market in online. The population of the country is populated
by non-credit cardholders that are why only few can pay online. There's also a
factor that most of us don't trust online transactions. Moreover, online frauds
and scams are pretty known in online by the local online community. We are now
entering the era in the Philippines where Ecommerce is making a mark. The
Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall is just over one year of operation but they
managed to make an impact on the Ecommerce industry.
Their recent appearance on TVC from top local
TV networks during primetime just show how legit and credible they are to the
local online customers since Ecommerce in the country is limited, how did they
come up with a solution? They first introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. as an
alternative payment method. Typically, this is not offered in online by online
stores. From an online business owner's point, it is very risky on their part.
It is payment method that allows online users to pay only after they receive
their orders. What make this convenient is that customers can pay Lazada after
their orders are actually handed over to them. Scams won’t likely to occur
since customers will get to keep their money up until they can see their orders
delivered in real time. The reason for this is to ensure customers that they
won't be scammed if they deal with them.
