One of the reason is that we have a high fraud rate for both offline and online in the Philippines. This made online transaction look very bad to most of the people online. Local online classified websites were the preferred websites by local online users when they want to shop. They actually paved way for the arrival local online malls in the country.

A marketplace community was eventually born thanks to these local online classifieds. During the time local online classified websites didn't exist, local online users didn't know where to go in online. Users go to these websites mainly to get an idea about market price of what they want to buy. This usage allowed Internet users to find online more diverse in use. A lot of people go to their websites to buy and sell on their own. It's very different from Ecommerce since local online users deal with third party resellers. Third party resellers on these kinds of websites usually conduct Offline transactions. Group buying websites helped influence the thinking of local online users. This boosted the preparation of the Ecommerce industry's arrival in the country.

Upon the arrival of the Ecommerce websites, local online users were already prepared for online dealing. Online shopping was still considered since the reward customer's will get beats the risk. It was hard to find better deals than what online users found on group buy websites. Their deals were outstanding lower prices that any local online user would have a hard time refusing. Lazada Philippines was eventually launched in the country last year. One of the online mall ventures that is launched in South East Asia. It is backed by the Samwer brothers and is under the Rocket Internet umbrella.

The Philippines Online Shopping Mall significantly helped the local Ecommerce in the Philippines through their diverse payment methods. Their payment method gave customers option on which payment they find more suiting. Conventionally, only via credit card or PayPal payment is allowed by conventional online malls. Conventional online payments like these, only limits the customers in availing what they want. They introduced to the local online users about their alternative payment method called Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. The payment method allowed this online store to tap the untapped market in the Philippines. It is the majority of the local consumer market in the country. Ecommerce is now rising with this recently tapped market included in the customer mix.
