Lazada Philippines: The culture shift in online shopping

Shopping online is beginning to make some noise in the local online community. It started to go mainstream just a year ago when websites like Lazada arrived in the country. Prior to their arrival, Ecommerce was actually struggling and local online users didn’t give online shopping a high regard. Rather they stay away from it even. With the arrival of Lazada in the country, it also made the local online competitors show up therefore allowing the online shopping popularity to begin in the country. Actually, Ecommerce was a struggling in the industry prior to their arrival in the country. Not everyone found online shopping as a helpful option for addressing his or her shopping needs then. As for the majority of the local online users, whenever they want to buy second hand items they usually go to local online classified ads. When it comes to seeking brand new items, local consumers usually visit traditional offline malls.

Offline malls are actually part of our culture as we grew up visiting them when we want to buy something. Time, energy and money can be saved if local online consumers go with online shopping. How can online shopping actually give us more benefits? Online shopping can be done anywhere the local customer is located. Usual extra-spent cash on visiting traditional malls will now be saved with online shopping. This is the issue that the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall wanted to address when they were launched in the Philippines. It was difficult for online malls to tap the local online market of the country.

Since most of the populations are not credit cardholders, only few can pay online conventionally. We can't just rely on trusting online transactions right away. It makes it harder for online users to be convinced since online scams and frauds are just lurking around over the Internet. We are actually on the verge of Ecommerce rise in the country. In just less than a year, the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall was able to establish themselves in the local Ecommerce industry. One proof to realize that they are as legit as they can be is they can be seen on TVC during primetime from top local TV networks in the country.

They formulated a method in order to break the Ecommerce wall in the country. Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. payment method as offered by them as an alternative payment. Typically, online stores do not offer this in online. The reason behind is that not all-online business will risk their business for this payment method. Orders are not actually required to be paid upfront by customers with Cash on Delivery payment method. Once orders are delivered at the customer's address, that's the only time they will need to pay in cash. Customers will be satisfied to know that they won't be scammed since they can keep their money up until their order arrived at their home. The intention is to give their customers the impression that they won't be scammed.
