Online malls have invaded South
East Asia for the past couple of years now. It is to the point where people
actually are changing their perception about online shopping. Initially, online
shopping is something that people would have on top of their mind when they
think of shopping. Majority would think of visiting traditional malls when they
want to shop. In the Philippines, ever since Lazada came into the picture,
other local online business were put to live as online shopping started to roll
upwards. Ecommerce was a very unpopular online industry in the Philippines before
they arrived in the country. For one, it was untested by the local online users
and almost everyone is aware about the negative points that come along in
online shopping.
Before, local online users prefer
visiting local online classified websites when they want to buy something in
second hand condition. Traditional malls are often visited by customers who
want to buy brand new items. Offline malls are actually part of our culture as
we grew up visiting them when we want to buy something. Thinking of online
shopping, we can actually save more time and energy if we choose it over
traditional shopping. How can online users benefit from doing online shopping
instead? Local customers can actually shop anywhere you want with online
shopping. Money spent on usual travel expense going to the location of
traditional malls can now be saved by customers.
This is one of the customer woes
that the online malls wanted to solve for the local online consumers. It was
also a challenge for them on how they can tap the untapped market in online. A
lot of the reasons are because of majority of the population don't possess
their own credit card. There's also a factor that most of us don't trust online
transactions. With Internet, online frauds and scams will always be present in
online transactions. We are actually on the verge of Ecommerce rise in the
country. It is almost over a year now that Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall started its operation in the country yet
they already achieved so much becoming one of the leading online malls in the
country.
They even showed up on TVC at top
local channels during their primetime to show how credible they are to their
customers. Given the limitations in Ecommerce, how did they solve it? An
alternative payment method was offered by them called Cash on Delivery or
C.O.D. This payment method is very unconventional to be offered in online. It's
actually very risky for a business to offer that kind of payment method. This
payment method doesn’t require customers to pay them upfront. What make this
convenient is that customers can pay Lazada after their orders are actually handed
over to them. This enables customers to keep their money up until their orders
are handed over to them in real time. The intention is to give their customers
the impression that they won't be scammed.
Online shops in the Philippines like Lazada and Shopthiseasy are rising to the top because of the advanced pace of technology nowadays.
