An excellent role model on how other online malls should operate in the country

Internet shopping is starting to grow in the Philippines. More people are now accepting its concept as an alternative way of doing shopping. A very helpful convenient way if I may add. Now that the Internet demand is soaring high, the future of online shopping as an industry online is very promising. It’s only a matter of time when online shopping is almost a common thing to do for everyone. What most of us don’t realize is that online shopping struggled initially when they started to make it available to local online users. The arrival of Lazada in the country paved way for other local online competitors to show up.

Surprisingly, the Ecommerce industry was not growing as an industry. To most online users, shopping online was never choice or option to them back then. When local online users want to buy something, they prefer cheaper second hand items on local classified websites. Typically, a customer would usually go to traditional malls if they want buy anything brand new. It can't be helped since it is part of our culture to visit traditional malls when we want to address our shopping needs. As a matter of fact we always forget that we can save more money and time in online shopping.

Why do online shopping be an option for the local consumers?  Online shopping can be conducted wherever the customer pleases. They can actually save more in gas expense since no longer will they need to visit the mall's location. This is the issue that Lazada wanted to address when they were launched in the Philippines. They were also facing an issue on how they can also tap the untapped market in online. Non-credit cardholders populate the population of the country, which is why only few can pay online. It can't be helped that most of us questions the reliability of online transactions/ online frauds and scams also happens globally, which we are all aware of.

Good thing that Ecommerce now is starting to grow in the Philippines. It's really hard to imagine that Lazada has only been here for more than a year yet it contributed dearly on the Ecommerce industry. As for the trust and credibility status, the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall showed up on TVC during primetime at top local channels in the country. They formulated a solution in order to break the Ecommerce silence in the country. They offered Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. to their customers as an alternative payment method.

Typically, online stores do not offer this in online. From an online business owner's point, it is very risky on their part. It is payment method that allows online users to pay only after they receive their orders. Customers will only need to pay in cash once their order arrives at their doorstep. With this, customers won't need to worry about their money getting scammed. This is to eradicate the way of thinking of local online users about online malls as scams.
