Lazada: Convenience of Online Payment Flexibility

Online shopping has always been a good alternative in shopping for people. It gives them the option to be in control of their time. Chances are, these are the people who have unusual schedule in their lifestyle. Probably they are the one set for night shifts in their work. These are the people that have their free time at night or early morning. However, living this lifestyle doesn’t allow them to go to traditional malls during their regular days of work. It limits their access on malls. Therefore, they can only buy what they need from traditional malls during the weekends. Compared to a person who lives under a normal time shift, its way harder for them to gain access. Good thing that online shopping in the country is starting to rise. Nowadays, you see a lot of online stores that were put up to cater to the local Internet market. Surprisingly, this online shopping trend only started just last year. I believe everyone followed when Lazada was launched in the country last year. It is one of the very first online shopping mall that was launched in the country to cater to the local consumers. Lazada was also launched in other South East Asia countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. Since their invasion in Asia, the Ecommerce Industry really thrived comparing to its previous years when Lazada wasn’t still launched. This just shows how big of an impact Lazada did to the Asian market. It was actually a great idea to have an online store put up since the competition is very low or none at all. In the Philippines however, it is actually a challenge for anyone then to entice people to try online shopping. One reason it was tough, is that before Lazada introduced online shopping, Filipinos were not comfortable in doing online transactions.

Mainly, they don’t want to risk their credit card or Paypal account details in public and be hack prone from having their identity stolen online. What makes this more challenging is that majority of the population in the Philippines don’t have any credit cards nor Paypal accounts to conduct conventional online transaction. This is one of the main reasons why Ecommerce growth was slow in the country. Although, we are familiar of its existence, we haven’t tried it firsthand. We already judged its capability to helps us since it loudly speaks more risk than reward for us.  Another huge thing why Ecommerce in the past was stagnant, it is due to the fact that we don’t trust online stores immediately. We tend to assume that we might get scammed online, which is a no secret fact online. So with these two alone, you can pretty much see that anyone who accepts this challenge will haves his or her hands full. What made it possible for Lazada to penetrate the initial low online market audience of Philippines is to offer an alternative payment method that will help solve both of these Ecommerce woes that derailed its further growth.  They introduced Cash on Delivery, which allows every customer to order online and pay offline in cash. They only need to pay Lazada only after their orders are delivered to them.
